Remember the story of the Samaritan woman at the well in "Magdalena: Released From Shame"? Jesus promised her water that would become a spring welling up with eternal life! Who wouldn't want that? Yet have you ever felt defeated as a Christian? Do you try to follow God, but find yourself continually failing? Could you use a little of these mighty rivers in your life?

When you become a follower of Jesus, the Holy Spirit indwells you and takes up residence in your life. Many times, however, we find ourselves trying to live life in our own human strength, and we do not allow the Holy Spirit the opportunity to empower us. This is when frustration and defeat settle in. So how can we continue to be empowered by the Spirit? We are filled, or empowered, by faith. Ephesians 5:18 in the Bible says, "Do not get drunk on wine. Instead, be filled with the Spirit" (NIV). It is God's desire that we are filled with His Spirit. He wants us to live a victorious life! By faith you can come to God in prayer: You can admit to God your efforts to live life in your own strength, agree with God about any wrongdoings he brings to mind, and express your desire to be filled with the Spirit. Finish by thanking God for empowering you with His Spirit! This is a moment-by-moment decision. As you continue to walk with the Spirit, the rivers of living water will truly flow with power for you today!
